The producers of a movie coming out this August are brilliant marketers. The movie is probably one you have heard of if you visit blogs or surf the internet much. I am referring of course to Snakes on a Plane, which is creating a buzz on-line through blogs, and then the news wires such as CNN pick up on this buzz creating even more buzz. All because the producers were savvy enough to give the movie a dumb name and leak out what the even dummer plot is (snakes are let loose on a plane). The movie sounds so bad, I just have to go see it to see how bad it will be.
I have three predictions about this movie based on what I know.
- It will be one of the worst movies of the year
- The movie will clean up at the box office
- Everyone involved with the movie will be laughing all the way to the bank
who knows maybe this type of brilliant marketing strategy will be taught all across business schools this Fall?
